St Irenaeus was born around the year 125 in Asia Minor. He was a disciple of St. Polycarp, who was a disciple of Apostle Saint John.

His writings laid the foundation of Christian theology and refuted the teachings of the gnostics.

Prayer-
O God, who called the Bishop Saint Irenaeus
to confirm true doctrine and the peace of the Church,
grant, we pray, through his intercession,
that, being renewed in faith and charity,
we may always be intent on fostering unity and concord.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
