Reading 1<\/strong>\u00a0Rom 6:12-18<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Brothers and sisters:
\nSin must not reign over your mortal bodies
\nso that you obey their desires.
\nAnd do not present the parts of your bodies to sin
\nas weapons for wickedness,
\nbut present yourselves to God as raised from the dead to life
\nand the parts of your bodies to God
\nas weapons for righteousness.
\nFor sin is not to have any power over you,
\nsince you are not under the law but under grace.<\/p>\n

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law
\nbut under grace?
\nOf course not!
\nDo you not know that if you present yourselves
\nto someone as obedient slaves,
\nyou are slaves of the one you obey,
\neither of sin, which leads to death,
\nor of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
\nBut thanks be to God that, although you were once slaves of sin,
\nyou have become obedient from the heart
\nto the pattern of teaching to which you were entrusted.
\nFreed from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness.<\/p>\n

Gospel<\/strong>\u00a0Luke 12:39-48<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Jesus said to his disciples:
\n“Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour
\nwhen the thief was coming,
\nhe would not have let his house be broken into.
\nYou also must be prepared,
\nfor at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”<\/p>\n

Then Peter said,
\n“Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?” And the Lord replied,
\n“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants
\nto distribute the food allowance at the proper time?
\nBlessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.
\nTruly, I say to you, he will put him
\nin charge of all his property.
\nBut if that servant says to himself,
\n‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants,
\nto eat and drink and get drunk,
\nthen that servant’s master will come
\non an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
\nand will punish the servant severely
\nand assign him a place with the unfaithful.
\nThat servant who knew his master’s will
\nbut did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will
\nshall be beaten severely;
\nand the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will
\nbut acted in a way deserving of a severe beating
\nshall be beaten only lightly.
\nMuch will be required of the person entrusted with much,
