First Reading – RV 7:2-4, 9-14<\/span><\/h4>\n

I, John, saw another angel come up from the East,
\nholding the seal of the living God.
\nHe cried out in a loud voice to the four angels
\nwho were given power to damage the land and the sea,
\n“Do not damage the land or the sea or the trees
\nuntil we put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
\nI heard the number of those who had been marked with the seal,
\none hundred and forty-four thousand marked
\nfrom every tribe of the children of Israel.<\/p>\n

After this I had a vision of a great multitude,
\nwhich no one could count,
\nfrom every nation, race, people, and tongue.
\nThey stood before the throne and before the Lamb,
\nwearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.
\nThey cried out in a loud voice:<\/p>\n

“Salvation comes from our God, who is seated on the throne,
\nand from the Lamb.”<\/p>\n

All the angels stood around the throne
\nand around the elders and the four living creatures.
\nThey prostrated themselves before the throne,
\nworshiped God, and exclaimed:<\/p>\n

“Amen. Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving,
\nhonor, power, and might
\nbe to our God forever and ever. Amen.”<\/p>\n

Then one of the elders spoke up and said to me,
\n“Who are these wearing white robes, and where did they come from?”
\nI said to him, “My lord, you are the one who knows.”
\nHe said to me,
\n“These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress;
\nthey have washed their robes
\nand made them white in the Blood of the Lamb.”<\/p>\n

Gospel – MT 5:1-12A<\/span><\/h4>\n

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
\nand after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
\nHe began to teach them, saying:<\/p>\n

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
\nfor theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
\nBlessed are they who mourn,
\nfor they will be comforted.
\nBlessed are the meek,
\nfor they will inherit the land.
\nBlessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
\nfor they will be satisfied.
\nBlessed are the merciful,
\nfor they will be shown mercy.
\nBlessed are the clean of heart,
\nfor they will see God.
\nBlessed are the peacemakers,
\nfor they will be called children of God.
\nBlessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
\nfor theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
\nBlessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
\nand utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
\nRejoice and be glad,
