First Reading – ROM\u00a011<\/span><\/h4>\n

Brothers and sisters:
\nThe gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.<\/p>\n

Just as you once disobeyed God
\nbut have now received mercy
\nbecause of their disobedience,
\nso they have now disobeyed in order that,
\nby virtue of the mercy shown to you,
\nthey too may now receive mercy.
\nFor God delivered all to disobedience,
\nthat he might have mercy upon all.<\/p>\n

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
\nHow inscrutable are his judgments and how unsearchable his ways!<\/p>\n

For who has known the mind of the Lord
\nor who has been his counselor?
\nOr who has given him anything
\nthat he may be repaid?<\/em><\/p>\n

For from him and through him and for him are all things.
\nTo God be glory forever. Amen.<\/p>\n

Gospel – LK 14<\/span><\/h4>\n

On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
\nat the home of one of the leading Pharisees.
\nHe said to the host who invited him,
\n“When you hold a lunch or a dinner,
\ndo not invite your friends or your brothers or sisters
\nor your relatives or your wealthy neighbors,
\nin case they may invite you back and you have repayment.
\nRather, when you hold a banquet,
\ninvite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;
\nblessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.
