First Reading –\u00a0EZ 47<\/span><\/h4>\n

The angel brought me
\nback to the entrance of the temple,
\nand I saw water flowing out
\nfrom beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east,
\nfor the fa\u00e7ade of the temple was toward the east;
\nthe water flowed down from the southern side of the temple,
\nsouth of the altar.
\nHe led me outside by the north gate,
\nand around to the outer gate facing the east,
\nwhere I saw water trickling from the southern side.
\nHe said to me,
\n“This water flows into the eastern district down upon the Arabah,
\nand empties into the sea, the salt waters, which it makes fresh.
\nWherever the river flows,
\nevery sort of living creature that can multiply shall live,
\nand there shall be abundant fish,
\nfor wherever this water comes the sea shall be made fresh.
\nAlong both banks of the river, fruit trees of every kind shall grow;
\ntheir leaves shall not fade, nor their fruit fail.
\nEvery month they shall bear fresh fruit,
\nfor they shall be watered by the flow from the sanctuary.
\nTheir fruit shall serve for food, and their leaves for medicine.”<\/p>\n

Gospel – LK 14<\/span><\/h4>\n

Since the Passover of the Jews was near,
\nJesus went up to Jerusalem.
\nHe found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,
\nas well as the money-changers seated there.
\nHe made a whip out of cords
\nand drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,
\nand spilled the coins of the money-changers
\nand overturned their tables,
\nand to those who sold doves he said,
\n“Take these out of here,
\nand stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”
\nHis disciples recalled the words of Scripture,
\nZeal for your house will consume me.<\/em>
\nAt this the Jews answered and said to him,
\n“What sign can you show us for doing this?”
\nJesus answered and said to them,
\n“Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”
\nThe Jews said,
\n“This temple has been under construction for forty-six years,
\nand you will raise it up in three days?”
\nBut he was speaking about the temple of his Body.
\nTherefore, when he was raised from the dead,
\nhis disciples remembered that he had said this,
\nand they came to believe the Scripture
