First Reading –\u00a0Daniel 7<\/span><\/h4>\n

In a vision I, Daniel, saw during the night,
\nthe four winds of heaven stirred up the great sea,
\nfrom which emerged four immense beasts,
\neach different from the others.
\nThe first was like a lion, but with eagle’s wings.
\nWhile I watched, the wings were plucked;
\nit was raised from the ground to stand on two feet
\nlike a man, and given a human mind.
\nThe second was like a bear; it was raised up on one side,
\nand among the teeth in its mouth were three tusks.
\nIt was given the order, “Up, devour much flesh.”
\nAfter this I looked and saw another beast, like a leopard;
\non its back were four wings like those of a bird,
\nand it had four heads.
\nTo this beast dominion was given.
\nAfter this, in the visions of the night I saw the fourth beast,
\ndifferent from all the others,
\nterrifying, horrible, and of extraordinary strength;
\nit had great iron teeth with which it devoured and crushed,
\nand what was left it trampled with its feet.
\nI was considering the ten horns it had,
\nwhen suddenly another, a little horn, sprang out of their midst,
\nand three of the previous horns were torn away to make room for it.
\nThis horn had eyes like a man,
\nand a mouth that spoke arrogantly.
\nAs I watched,<\/p>\n

Thrones were set up
\nand the Ancient One took his throne.
\nHis clothing was snow bright,
\nand the hair on his head as white as wool;
\nHis throne was flames of fire,
\nwith wheels of burning fire.
\nA surging stream of fire
\nflowed out from where he sat;
\nThousands upon thousands were ministering to him,
\nand myriads upon myriads attended him.<\/p>\n

The court was convened, and the books were opened.
\nI watched, then, from the first of the arrogant words
\nwhich the horn spoke, until the beast was slain
\nand its body thrown into the fire to be burnt up.
\nThe other beasts, which also lost their dominion,
\nwere granted a prolongation of life for a time and a season.
\nAs the visions during the night continued, I saw<\/p>\n

One like a son of man coming,
\non the clouds of heaven;
\nWhen he reached the Ancient One
\nand was presented before him,
\nHe received dominion, glory, and kingship;
\nnations and peoples of every language serve him.
\nHis dominion is an everlasting dominion
\nthat shall not be taken away,
\nhis kingship shall not be destroyed.<\/p>\n

Gospel – Luke 21<\/span><\/h4>\n

Jesus told his disciples a parable.
\n“Consider the fig tree and all the other trees.
\nWhen their buds burst open,
\nyou see for yourselves and know that summer is now near;
\nin the same way, when you see these things happening,
\nknow that the Kingdom of God is near.
\nAmen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away
\nuntil all these things have taken place.
\nHeaven and earth will pass away,
\nbut my words will not pass away.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
