First Reading –\u00a0Is 63<\/span><\/h4>\n

You, LORD, are our father,
\nour redeemer you are named forever.
\nWhy do you let us wander, O LORD, from your ways,
\nand harden our hearts so that we fear you not?
\nReturn for the sake of your servants,
\nthe tribes of your heritage.
\nOh, that you would rend the heavens and come down,
\nwith the mountains quaking before you,
\nwhile you wrought awesome deeds we could not hope for,
\nsuch as they had not heard of from of old.
\nNo ear has ever heard, no eye ever seen, any God but you
\ndoing such deeds for those who wait for him.
\nWould that you might meet us doing right,
\nthat we were mindful of you in our ways!
\nBehold, you are angry, and we are sinful;
\nall of us have become like unclean people,
\nall our good deeds are like polluted rags;
\nwe have all withered like leaves,
\nand our guilt carries us away like the wind.
\nThere is none who calls upon your name,
\nwho rouses himself to cling to you;
\nfor you have hidden your face from us
\nand have delivered us up to our guilt.
\nYet, O LORD, you are our father;
\nwe are the clay and you the potter:
\nwe are all the work of your hands.<\/p>\n

Second\u00a0Reading –\u00a01 Cor 1<\/span><\/h4>\n

Brothers and sisters:
\nGrace to you and peace from God our Father
\nand the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

I give thanks to my God always on your account
\nfor the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus,
\nthat in him you were enriched in every way,
\nwith all discourse and all knowledge,
\nas the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you,
\nso that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift
\nas you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
\nHe will keep you firm to the end,
\nirreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
\nGod is faithful,
\nand by him you were called to fellowship with his Son,
\nJesus Christ our Lord.<\/p>\n

Gospel – Matt 13<\/span><\/h4>\n

Jesus said to his disciples:
\n“Be watchful! Be alert!
\nYou do not know when the time will come.
\nIt is like a man traveling abroad.
\nHe leaves home and places his servants in charge,
\neach with his own work,
\nand orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.
\nWatch, therefore;
\nyou do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,
\nwhether in the evening, or at midnight,
\nor at cockcrow, or in the morning.
\nMay he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
