First Reading –\u00a0Isaiah 30<\/span><\/h4>\n

Thus says the Lord GOD,
\nthe Holy One of Israel:
\nO people of Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem,
\nno more will you weep;
\nHe will be gracious to you when you cry out,
\nas soon as he hears he will answer you.
\nThe Lord will give you the bread you need
\nand the water for which you thirst.
\nNo longer will your Teacher hide himself,
\nbut with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher,
\nWhile from behind, a voice shall sound in your ears:
\n“This is the way; walk in it,”
\nwhen you would turn to the right or to the left.<\/p>\n

He will give rain for the seed
\nthat you sow in the ground,
\nAnd the wheat that the soil produces
\nwill be rich and abundant.
\nOn that day your flock will be given pasture
\nand the lamb will graze in spacious meadows;
\nThe oxen and the asses that till the ground
\nwill eat silage tossed to them
\nwith shovel and pitchfork.
\nUpon every high mountain and lofty hill
\nthere will be streams of running water.
\nOn the day of the great slaughter,
\nwhen the towers fall,
\nThe light of the moon will be like that of the sun
\nand the light of the sun will be seven times greater
\nlike the light of seven days.
\nOn the day the LORD binds up the wounds of his people,
\nhe will heal the bruises left by his blows.<\/p>\n

Gospel –\u00a0Matthew 9<\/span><\/h4>\n

Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
\nteaching in their synagogues,
\nproclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom,
\nand curing every disease and illness.
\nAt the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them
\nbecause they were troubled and abandoned,
\nlike sheep without a shepherd.
\nThen he said to his disciples,
\n“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
\nso ask the master of the harvest
\nto send out laborers for his harvest.”<\/p>\n

Then he summoned his Twelve disciples
\nand gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out
\nand to cure every disease and every illness.<\/p>\n

Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus,
\n“Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
\nAs you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
\nCure the sick, raise the dead,
\ncleanse lepers, drive out demons.
\nWithout cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
