First Reading –\u00a01 Kings<\/span><\/h4>\n

The elders of Israel and all the leaders of the tribes,
\nthe princes in the ancestral houses of the children of Israel,
\ncame to King Solomon in Jerusalem,
\nto bring up the ark of the LORD’s covenant
\nfrom the City of David, which is Zion.
\nAll the people of Israel assembled before King Solomon
\nduring the festival in the month of Ethanim (the seventh month).
\nWhen all the elders of Israel had arrived,
\nthe priests took up the ark;
\nthey carried the ark of the LORD
\nand the meeting tent with all the sacred vessels
\nthat were in the tent.
\n(The priests and Levites carried them.)<\/p>\n

King Solomon and the entire community of Israel
\npresent for the occasion
\nsacrificed before the ark sheep and oxen
\ntoo many to number or count.
\nThe priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD
\nto its place beneath the wings of the cherubim in the sanctuary,
\nthe holy of holies of the temple.
\nThe cherubim had their wings spread out over the place of the ark,
\nsheltering the ark and its poles from above.
\nThere was nothing in the ark but the two stone tablets
\nwhich Moses had put there at Horeb,
\nwhen the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel
\nat their departure from the land of Egypt.<\/p>\n

When the priests left the holy place,
\nthe cloud filled the temple of the LORD
\nso that the priests could no longer minister because of the cloud,
\nsince the LORD’s glory had filled the temple of the LORD.
\nThen Solomon said, “The LORD intends to dwell in the dark cloud;
\nI have truly built you a princely house,
\na dwelling where you may abide forever.”
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gospel – Mark 6<\/span><\/p>\n

After making the crossing to the other side of the sea,
\nJesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret
\nand tied up there.
\nAs they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
\nThey scurried about the surrounding country
\nand began to bring in the sick on mats
\nto wherever they heard he was.
\nWhatever villages or towns or countryside he entered,
\nthey laid the sick in the marketplaces
\nand begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
\nand as many as touched it were healed.<\/p>\n
