{"id":4275,"date":"2018-02-10T01:00:38","date_gmt":"2018-02-10T06:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sharecatholic.com\/blog\/?p=4275"},"modified":"2018-02-09T16:23:05","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T21:23:05","slug":"mass-readings-february-10th-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sharecatholic.com\/blog\/mass-readings-february-10th-2018","title":{"rendered":"Mass Readings for February 10th, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia',serif; color: #993300;\">First Reading &#8211;\u00a01 Kings<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; widows: 2; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; word-spacing: 0px;\">Jeroboam thought to himself:<br \/>\n&#8220;The kingdom will return to David&#8217;s house.<br \/>\nIf now this people go up to offer sacrifices<br \/>\nin the temple of the LORD in Jerusalem,<br \/>\nthe hearts of this people will return to their master,<br \/>\nRehoboam, king of Judah,<br \/>\nand they will kill me.&#8221;<br \/>\nAfter taking counsel, the king made two calves of gold<br \/>\nand said to the people:<br \/>\n&#8220;You have been going up to Jerusalem long enough.<br \/>\nHere is your God, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.&#8221;<br \/>\nAnd he put one in Bethel, the other in Dan.<br \/>\nThis led to sin, because the people frequented those calves<br \/>\nin Bethel and in Dan.<br \/>\nHe also built temples on the high places<br \/>\nand made priests from among the people who were not Levites.<br \/>\nJeroboam established a feast in the eighth month<br \/>\non the fifteenth day of the month<br \/>\nto duplicate in Bethel the pilgrimage feast of Judah,<br \/>\nwith sacrifices to the calves he had made;<br \/>\nand he stationed in Bethel priests of the high places he had built.<\/p>\n<p>Jeroboam did not give up his evil ways after this,<br \/>\nbut again made priests for the high places<br \/>\nfrom among the common people.<br \/>\nWhoever desired it was consecrated<br \/>\nand became a priest of the high places.<br \/>\nThis was a sin on the part of the house of Jeroboam<br \/>\nfor which it was to be cut off and destroyed from the earth.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia',serif; color: #993300;\">Gospel &#8211; Mark 8<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; widows: 2; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; word-spacing: 0px;\">In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat,<br \/>\nJesus summoned the disciples and said,<br \/>\n\u201cMy heart is moved with pity for the crowd,<br \/>\nbecause they have been with me now for three days<br \/>\nand have nothing to eat.<br \/>\nIf I send them away hungry to their homes,<br \/>\nthey will collapse on the way,<br \/>\nand some of them have come a great distance.\u201d<br \/>\nHis disciples answered him, \u201cWhere can anyone get enough bread<br \/>\nto satisfy them here in this deserted place?\u201d<br \/>\nStill he asked them, \u201cHow many loaves do you have?\u201d<br \/>\nThey replied, \u201cSeven.\u201d<br \/>\nHe ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.<br \/>\nThen, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them,<br \/>\nand gave them to his disciples to distribute,<br \/>\nand they distributed them to the crowd.<br \/>\nThey also had a few fish.<br \/>\nHe said the blessing over them<br \/>\nand ordered them distributed also.<br \/>\nThey ate and were satisfied.<br \/>\nThey picked up the fragments left over\u2013seven baskets.<br \/>\nThere were about four thousand people.<\/p>\n<p>He dismissed the crowd and got into the boat with his disciples<br \/>\nand came to the region of Dalmanutha.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; widows: 2; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia',serif; color: #993300;\">This is the\u00a0Word of the Lord.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First Reading &#8211;\u00a01 Kings Jeroboam thought to himself: &#8220;The kingdom will return to David&#8217;s house.
