First Reading –\u00a0Dt 4<\/span><\/h4>\n
\n
Moses spoke to the people and said:
\n“Now, Israel, hear the statutes and decrees
\nwhich I am teaching you to observe,
\nthat you may live, and may enter in and take possession of the land
\nwhich the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
\nTherefore, I teach you the statutes and decrees
\nas the LORD, my God, has commanded me,
\nthat you may observe them in the land you are entering to occupy.
\nObserve them carefully,
\nfor thus will you give evidence
\nof your wisdom and intelligence to the nations,
\nwho will hear of all these statutes and say,
\n‘This great nation is truly a wise and intelligent people.’
\nFor what great nation is there
\nthat has gods so close to it as the LORD, our God, is to us
\nwhenever we call upon him?
\nOr what great nation has statutes and decrees
\nthat are as just as this whole law
\nwhich I am setting before you today?<\/p>\n

“However, take care and be earnestly on your guard
\nnot to forget the things which your own eyes have seen,
\nnor let them slip from your memory as long as you live,
\nbut teach them to your children and to your children’s children.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Gospel -Mt 5<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus said to his disciples:
\n\u201cDo not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
\nI have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
\nAmen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
\nnot the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
\nwill pass from the law,
\nuntil all things have taken place.
\nTherefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
\nand teaches others to do so
\nwill be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
\nBut whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
\nwill be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n
