First Reading –\u00a0Jer 7<\/span><\/h4>\n

Thus says the LORD:
\nThis is what I commanded my people:
\nListen to my voice;
\nthen I will be your God and you shall be my people.
\nWalk in all the ways that I command you,
\nso that you may prosper.<\/p>\n

But they obeyed not, nor did they pay heed.
\nThey walked in the hardness of their evil hearts
\nand turned their backs, not their faces, to me.
\nFrom the day that your fathers left the land of Egypt even to this day,
\nI have sent you untiringly all my servants the prophets.
\nYet they have not obeyed me nor paid heed;
\nthey have stiffened their necks and done worse than their fathers.
\nWhen you speak all these words to them,
\nthey will not listen to you either;
\nwhen you call to them, they will not answer you.
\nSay to them:
\nThis is the nation that does not listen
\nto the voice of the LORD, its God,
\nor take correction.
\nFaithfulness has disappeared;
\nthe word itself is banished from their speech.<\/p>\n

Gospel -Luke 11<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute,
\nand when the demon had gone out,
\nthe mute man spoke and the crowds were amazed.
\nSome of them said, “By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
\nhe drives out demons.”
\nOthers, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
\nBut he knew their thoughts and said to them,
\n“Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
\nand house will fall against house.
\nAnd if Satan is divided against himself,
\nhow will his kingdom stand?
\nFor you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
\nIf I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
\nby whom do your own people drive them out?
\nTherefore they will be your judges.
\nBut if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
\nthen the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
\nWhen a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
\nhis possessions are safe.
\nBut when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
\nhe takes away the armor on which he relied
\nand distributes the spoils.
\nWhoever is not with me is against me,
\nand whoever does not gather with me scatters.”<\/p>\n
