Mother Teresa was born in Albania in 1910 and founded the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta 40 years later. The group helps the poorest in society. She taught the female religious she worked with to treat the sick the same way they would treat Jesus Christ.
She died in September 1997 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003. The Pope will likely canonize her on September 4th, during the Jubilee for Workers and Volunteers of Mercy.
